So we've been gone for a short break as most of the staff at our institution also went on holiday. We are continuing with Concept map training with a focus on the CMaptool and how it can help academics with their teaching and learning. Responses, for the most part; have been positive in terms of the training offered. The real measure of success I guess, is whether the training translates into implementation in the various departments.
Challenges appear to be the requests for student training in the use of the software as a) we simply do not have enough lab to offer the training to large classes and b)will students have access to these labs after training is completed to deal with assignments. Another challenge is to dispel the possible perception that the CMap tool is just another talk and chalk method or that it is a silver bullet for teaching and learning. What are your thoughts?

The Rumour Mill
Rumour has it that soon there will be a 3D bloggie available. Personally, I can't help but wonder the purpose of this if you are not going to be shooting a feature length movie and play it back on a 3DTV. Will this drastically increase the file sizes?. Apparently, panasonic will also be bringing out a camera that can do on-board touch ups to pictures. Research have shown that a large percentage of users are unhappy with the way they look in photographs, hence the "beauty enhance" feature on a new panasonic camera model. Now there is no need for learning software such as GIMP or Photoshop. Lekka!!

Staying Alive
Hi Folks, this will be our first post and allow me to welcome you all to this forum. Why did I choose this blog? The simple answer is if you find something you like why look any further. So for now this forum meets with my needs and I hope it will yours. Should we find something better we can always move there. The idea is that we share our experiences in multimedia, especially as it pertains to elearning here in the hope to create a community of practice. In my experience it is easier speaking about first-hand experience than having read or heard something elsewhere. I hope that someone will be able to say one day that they heard it from us. So feel to make your first post and get the ball rolling.
